Born in Stratford-upon-Avon which is Northwest of London; baptized on April 26, 1564; not of noble birth; middle-class; father was a glove maker and involved in city government schooling; attend local grammar school in Stratford; did not attend university; married Anne Hathaway; birth of first child, Susanna; birth of twins, Hamlet and Judith; joins the Lord Chamberlain’s Men; death of Hamlet at age 11. “Considered by many the greatest poet of the 20th century”(988); was a visionary who developed his own set of beliefs to answer his question about life and help him interpret the uncertainties of the future. Yeats born in Dublin of Protestant parents; Yeats was educated in large part by his father, a portrait painter; had brief period at an art school; Yeats decided to write instead of paint; published his first poems in 1885, constantly writing-producing drama and criticism as well as poetry; Yeats was passionately committed to Ireland - it's people, culture, and political destiny; at age 24 met and fell
in love with actress Maud Gonne, a fiery Irish patriot, Gonne refused to marry him, but she inspired some of his finest lyrics and deepened his commitment to Irish nationalism. In 1896 met lady Gregory an Irish aristocrat; together made a national drama for Ireland, founded Dublin's Abbey Theater in 1904. Most of his interests were in mysticism and the supernatural During Shakespeare's lifetime he experienced a lot such as Queen Elizabeth becoming queen and the Protestant faith returning to England. William Butler Yeats by many the greatest poet of the 20th century who life spanned from the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. He was born in 1865 and died in 1939. He was passionately committed to Ireland and created a national drama. Yeats mostly produced drama and criticism as well as poetry. During his lifetime when he wrote "The Second Coming" there were many problems in the world such as the Russian Revolution of 1917 and World War I in 1918. Shortly after of these war’s he wrote "The Second Coming". Most of the problems presented in Yeats poems were about life and the uncertainties of the future.
