Animal Rights

Hunters and animal activists look at animal rights from two very different perspectives. Hunters just look at animals like it is their duty and privilege to hunt. On the other hand, animal activists say that animals should have the same rights that humans have. In a few articles posted by animal rights activists, they even compared hunting with slavery. For example an animal activist said, "Picture this. You are a baby deer, running through the woods happily with your mother and father and a few siblings. Bending your head down to eat some delicious grass, you gear a loud noise. Putting your head up, you see your sibling on the ground, dead. You and your family flee the scene. While running, you're in tears and you hear another BOOM! You turn around to see your mother lying on the ground. She says her last words, "I love you all, and please unite to stop this insanity against us."(http://chat.uarc.com/uarc/) Animal activists find no difference between humans and animals. They just picture humans in the place of animals. Animal rights activists choose to overlook all of the good things that hunters do and just picture the bloodshed from killing deer. They fail to acknowledge that

and the outdoors in general, but the hunter then makes the mistake of glorifying the smallest part of the hunt, the kill. Then the animal rights activist then uses the glorification of killing by many to put hunters down, in spite of all of good that comes out of it. Hunters must learn to show everybody that they gave more respect for nature that any other group of people. They can do this by supporting our natural heritage thought groups such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited etc. Support of all hunters is the key to the survival of hunting. Hunting has had a more positive impact on wildlife that it has negative ones, especially in the last 50 years. Any time an animal becomes threatened, it is hunters and outdoors men who react first.

hunters. You will often hear animal rights activists use the terms "these poor animals" and the "poor things are going to go extinct"(http://chat.uarc.com/uarc/). They try to make people feel bad for the animals when really hunters are doing nothing but good for

them It's hard for hunters to understand what makes an anti-hunter what he or she is. Better explained, why do they think the way they do? Often, they justify their stance by saying things like "it's cruel to kill animals" or "killing isn't a sport."(http://chat.uarc.com/uarc/) Knowing that most North Americans are not vegetarians, really helps in the first statement. With that statement, the person who says it clearly does not realize that going to the local grocery and buying a couple steaks is contributing to the death of that animal. When they go to the shoe store and but leather shoes, again there is the same result. On the second argument, they are absolutely correct! Killing is not a sport, never has been a sport and never will be a sport. Hunting is the sport that hunters participate in and killing is the smallest component by far. Virtually all of the hunters time is spent observing their prey's habits, movements, and learning about the animals environment. In other words it is a nature walk with a goal. Understanding why we hunt is probably the most important part of any argument. When hunters don't give a good reason to hunt, they lose all credibility. Maintaining the ecological balance by ensuring that particular types of game populations don't get too large is a good reason for hunting. It doesn't justify hunting on the emotional level, however. Unfortunately anti-hunters base their opposition and attacks right there.

given adequate territory bucks will fight one another and they have been known to kill one another and in rare cases, getting their antlers stuck together to where they both die. Also if they aren't given the amount of space that they need, they start going into places that they normally do not go like roads and highways which can be fatal in many car accidents. Nationwide, there were about 1.5 million deer-related car accidents last year. More than 29,000 people were hurt and about 200 died in those accidents, and property damage alone topped more than $1 billion (http://whytohunt.com/ ) With as much hunting as there is tod
