In 1987 my most influential rock band originated in Seattle, as many bands did in that period known as the grunge era. Led by two front men Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, Alice in Chains became one of the most influential and ageless bands. Although their reign was short lived due to the death of Layne in 2002, who lost his battle against heroin. Each member in the group brought something special to the band, though the inspirational lyrics Layne sang about will never again be heard, forcing the band to break up and pursue other musical careers.
