The death penalty is immoral because of many reasons. One of them is why should people be able to play God and choose who lives and who dies. No one has the right to choose if someone lives or dies. In the Bible, in the Book of Matthew: 5:38-40, Jesus proclaims, “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other as well. Do you still believe that an eye for an eye should be used in the justice system? No one has the power to play God because when people receive that power it is abused and innocent people are killed. Also, the economics of the death penalty are way too high and cannot be even compared to the economics of life incarceration. The death penalty should be eliminated from the justice system because it is immoral, less economical, and can result in fatal accidents. For those reasons, the death penalty is above all wrongly used.

The final reason for abolishing the death penalty is because innocent people have been convicted and killed without even committing a crime. Over the past 96 years 23 innocent people have been killed in the death penalty.
