The Swedish vote was a major blow to a lot of different things. Such as, General Motors, which owns Swedish carmaker Saab, and BMW. Companies that import and export can be hurt by changes in the value of the Krona (Swedish money) against the dollar or euro. “The vote also may cut Sweden’s political power in the 15-country European union. By staying outside the monetary union, it will not have a strong voice on economic issues.”(Noelle, Knox. 1A) There is also a positive side for the Swede’s for not voting for the currency. “Such as, Sweden gets to keep control over its interest rates, which is a key tool to retaining control of economic growth.”(Noelle, Knox. 1A) Sweden’s “Vote No” campaign hammered on the fact that its economy has done better, on average, than European countries.
