Effect of soicial institutions

In my life, there have been many social institutions that have influenced me and helped me in many ways. Baseball happens to be one of the many that has. It is a sport in which the best in the game fail 6 out of 9 times. Growing up playing baseball, it has helped me to always keep my head up. Since I have played since I was 8, I've come to learn that failure has to be accepted to an extent. Of course you always want to get a hit every time you come up to bat, but hitting every time isn't something that is going to happen. It's physically impossible because of all the things that have to go right. Playing baseball has also taught me not to become a stronger person mentally. .
To begin with, whenever you try to do something with a negative attitude the thing you are trying to do seems to be 20 times harder. As a result of striking out and ending the inning a person would have to learn to just forget about it and move on. If a person doesn't move on, gets upset with himself and continues to dwell on it, the chances of an error occurring and making a mistake go way up. For example, whenever I go to the batting cages for practice and it seems that I just can't do anything right, I've learned that by getting mad and upset things just get worse, I"m better off if I take a breather and stay calm. As a result, I've learned that this just doesn't apply to baseball, it also applies to everything in general, whether it is a math problem you can't figure out, trying to put something together, or even just driving every day. For example, while driving, if traffic is very bad one day, you can't get upset, because if you get upset you are more likely to try and do something stupid and could result in someone getting seriously hurt. .
Also, baseball has helped me become a mentally stronger person. As a result of baseball, I try not to let little things get stuck into my head. For example, if I were in a hitting slump and someone were to tell me it was because of my bat and I seriously thought that, it could change the reason of my slump from a timing problem to a whole mental thing that could result into a new, incorrect swing.
