Child Psychologist
I think that being a child psychologist would be a very interesting job because while evaluating children with psychological disorders, you pretty much get paid to tell people your opinions about the kid. Plus, since there are such a wide variety of areas you could work as a psychologist, if you get bored with one, just move on to another. When you think of a Child psychologist, most likely you are thinking of a kid talking to a therapist to see if they are crazy or not. Ok so maybe you aren’t thinking that at all but that is kind of what I got out if it, but Child psychologist’s are so much more then that! They conduct scientific research and provide psychological services to infants all the way to adolescents. It focuses on understanding, preventing, diagnosing and treating children’s psychological, cognitive, emotional, developmental, behavioral and family problems. Being a Child Psychologist sounded like a great occupation at the beginning, but now when I look at it from a time perspective, it takes up way to much time to make the money that it does. I mean hey, more power to you if you want to do this, and helping children is great, but I don’t think it’s the job for me. In order to practice as a psychologist in any state, you have to have a license issued by that state. A psychology license in most states is a generic license, and states do not license "child" psychologists, or clinical psychologists or any other specialty of psychology, they just license generic psychologists. So if somebody calls themselves a child psychologist they just mean that they are a psychologist that specialize or have limited themselves to practicing with Children. A bachelor degree in psychology or a related field takes 4 years full time to complete. Obtaining a master degree usually takes 2 years full time.
