I am refreshing my memory of what happened and when it happened. I came here to United States after graduating my high school in India. I was so confused on what to do and what course to select as my major. My friends and relatives with different ideas advised me. To start with I was interested with computers basically and was amazed with what technology can do. That was a start. I then decided to take computer major and so I did in University of Houston. The first two years, I was doing general courses and not anything particular with respect to my major. I was an intern in the science school were I worked maintaining the website for them. I get to learn the basics of web and html coding which was very new to me. I enjoyed learning and doing the websites and also wanted to do more of it. So I planned to take web related courses in my curriculum and to say more programming oriented that involves database and programming. I was planning to move from Houston and also wanted to have the flexibility of finishing my degree without other interruptions so that I don’t need to take a break of a semester if I had to.
One of my good friends told me about UOP and then I started enquiring about it and enrolled in this program. Thou
I wish to learn more taking courses and also in future I wanted to do my masters degree. I am not sure how far this is going to work out since I know that I need to put lot of time and work in doing that. I wish to get a masters degree in computer science. I would like to attend seminars or conferences like technology conference offered by Microsoft or Oracle. It depends on the company I am working with and also depends on what software they are using and changes to those.
I wanted to achieve in this field and keep me updated and learn more new languages and technologies. I wanted to finish off and start out looking for a job with this experience. I hope the economy and the job market gets better and if not given a chance, I cannot prove myself.
I couldn’t believe that I am going to be done with the degree. It feels like I just started and two years have been completed. When I first started, I was not sure of how this is going to work out. I was not that confident as I am now. Before taking any courses, I had to take couple of exams on critical thinking skills and English for waiver. I was worried since if I didn’t do well, I had to take those courses. I wanted to do well and so I worked on the exercises and then took the exam. Surprisingly, it was okay and I passed. A
