Chasing Amy
Chasing Amy (1997) is a film by writer/director Kevin Smith, it is the last movie in what has been called the Jersey Trilogy (which consists of his other films, Clerks (1994) and Mallrats (1995). Chasing Amy stars Ben Affleck as Holden McNeil, Joey Lauren Adams as Alyssa Jones and Jason Lee as Banky Edwards. Chasing Amy is about two friends, Holden and Banky, who are comic book artists working on their own comic Bluntman and Chronic, at a comic book convention Banky and Holden assist their friend and fellow colleague in the world of comics, Hooper LaMont with a publicity stunt to promote his book on the minority panel. Hooper is on the panel because he is a black man, who is also gay. Hooper is later says that he is; "the minority in the minority of the minority." Also on the panel is Alyssa Jones, who is presumably on the panel because she is a woman, and in the comic industry, this is a rarity. Hooper, Alyssa, Banky and Holden all get together after the convention to talk. Holden grows attached to Alyssa and later admits to Banky that they, "shared a moment." Holden's feelings for Alys
After Holden and Alyssa embrace, signifying a newfound union between the two of them, you see Banky entering the apartment, Holden and Alyssa were obviously sexually intimate, and Banky takes a while to notice this and when he does he drops everything, including his chocolate milk on the floor and leaves. When Holden confronts Banky about this (because it is Banky's house too) Banky says; "I wanted to watch some TV. Hard to do when your best friend's wrapped around a naked rug-muncher on your couch." This is an example of Banky's comedic wit. Then it happens, everyone has felt this way before, something horrible happens and you and another go your separate ways, and you hope they'll see the error of their ways and come back. And Alyssa does just that. She runs down the street to Holden and clings to him, in the pouring rain and they just share this moment of passion, where they embrace each other and engage in a very passionate kiss. Time progresses, Holden and Alyssa develop a friendship which in turn dampers Holden's relationship with Banky, as friends and as business partners. Holde
