ACT/SAT Scores Say Nothing

High school students nationwide are expected to take the much hated ACT or SAT. The ACT and SAT are supposed to rate students' knowledge but they fail miserably. It is impossible to go through 12 years of school in 3 hours. A solid GPA says a lot more than one test. Therefore, something must be done to change this unjust testing system because it proves nothing about an individual.

The ACT and SAT have caused many headaches through the years, and for a useless purpose. There are millions of fully qualified individuals left out of their primary college choice every year because they failed to meet their required ACT or SAT score. It is not fair to judge twelve years of education on one test. During the course of a students 12 or 13 year career in school they pick up thousands of pieces of information. The idea of taking a test on all of those skills is ridiculous


A change in this system has been due for years. Colleges are starting little by little to ease up on it. They too are discovering how faulty ACT and SAT scores can be. But the point is, not just some colleges need to ease up on it, every college does. Or at least do something to make it fair for every student.

Breaking up the ACT and SAT would not only benefit the student by singling out each subject, but the teachers would be more pressured to teach more and with higher quality. A lot of teachers these days tend to slack off. If there's a test being given over information from that class, their jobs might be on the line if the whole class receives low grades. This wouldn't only affect the teacher but the student as well. Therefore teacher motivation from teachers and students would skyrocket.
