Beach Balls and Religion
Beach Balls are round and they have stripes of color. If two people were standing opposite each other holding on to the same beach ball, one would see yellow and orange while the other would see blue and green. The first person holding the yellow and red side of the ball has never seen the other side and he assumes that the other side is the same color. Nothing that the blue and green sided guy can say can persuade the other guy that the ball could be a different color. This illustration shows how attitude and perception can alters how people see and interpret what they see and hear. Religion and science work the same way. Most humans are not open to interpretation and ideas. Richard Feynman wrote an essay on the relationship of Religion and Science. In his essay he struggles with the way religion is interpreted. In his essay he admits that he does not know all the answers, but he asks that one looks at the others ideas and leave room for reflection. Religion is an individual personal speculation. A personal religion is based on attitude, perception and convection. Religion is not an object, religion is a theory. Individual truth is crucial. Religion is what one makes of it.
Conviction is what humans strive for. Every human has an empty hole inside that they want to fill. The only stable way to fill that hole is trough a private faith. She knew that she believed in god but never gave in much thought. She was track star, straight A’ student and had the “dream guy”. Most thought that she had it all. In reality she was using all these accomplishments to fill some sort of hole. When it came to it there was no escape in her actions. Emma had no beliefs. She had no faith or God. Emma had never opened herself to new experiences and lived in a world or false realities. In reality she hated track only did it because her father made her, and she was two months pregnant with dream guy’s child. One must develop a personality that gives him or her a meaningful, challenging, and satisfying existence. A human being can not do this without conviction. A conviction is some higher force that one can build a relationship. Once humans come to what they believe, they must have faith. A self-actualized person strives for meaning. One can’t be truly happy unless their life has some sort of direction. Science and religion dose have a plac
