Out of all of those who drink and are underage, two thirds of them claim they can purchase alcohol themselves (Georgia 1). This is obviously a problem that has to do with those who sell and distribute alcohol. People are selling alcohol to minors and getting away with it. A survey showed that 19.2 percent of teens used alcohol within 30 days before the survey (Social 1). Of all the alcohol consumed in the U.S., teenagers are responsible for consuming 25 percent of it. Also 31 percent of teenagers drink heavily at least once a month. This means that once a month they drink until they puke or passout (Underage 1). These are really alarming and scary facts. Alcohol advertisements are obviously a problem and something needs to be done about them.

Police officers are trained weekly on new approaches to situations with possible underage drinking. When called to break up a party there are many steps involved.
