Inspirations In Aviation
The events of September 11th, 12001 were tragic and distressing to everyone. The terrorist acts that occurred on that faithful day gave us, as a world, a sense of how insecure and vulnerable we really are. The fact that terrorists were educated in our own country and used our own aircraft, airports, and recourses to attack us stunned many, but inspired me. It inspired me to do something that would help the nation, to do something that could prevent such events from ever happening again; it reinforced my determination to become a commercial airline pilot. I always wanted to become a commercial airline pilot, even before 9/11. I was always fascinated by the aircraft, cockpits, and procedures of an airline. I have been on approximately 30 majestic commercial flights, all through which I sat in my seat and wondered about what it would feel like to the a pilot, watched the wings as the flaps went up and down and spoilers rose and fell, and kept on dreaming about when the day would come when I would sit in the left seat of that aircraft and announce to the passengers, “This is your C
The tragic events of September 11th, 2001 affected everyone, be it directly or indirectly. I was never dead serious about becoming a commercial aviator until that day. The images of people running away, of the world trade center towers collapsing on themselves, of the death and destruction which was caused, and of the aircraft flying into the buildings made me beyond dead serious about what I wanted to do and who I wanted to become. September 11th, 2003 I marked the tragic two year anniversary of the collapse in a method which not too many could have done. I flew N406ER for 2.0 hours during the time these events where taking place 2 years before. As of now, I am 13.3 hours on my way and there is no question about what profession I will pursue.
