Many works that were done manually are now being replaced by computers to make our lives easier and the creation of internet has revolutionized our whole lifestyle. Having the dream of putting computers on every desk and every home, the co-founder and the CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates have mad the computers more accessible to people. The Microsoft, a Washington based corporation is the leading American software company. The company develops, manufactures, licenses and supports software products for computing devices. Microsoft is currently the largest developer of software for personal computers. To meet the needs and to satisfy the customers, the company is run under intense management structure and organization. Microsoft’s current management hierarchy is under the leadership of Bill Gates, the chairman and the Chief Executive Officer and five senior managers who direct Microsoft’s four operating groups. The four main operating groups consist of Application and Content Group, Sales and Support Group, Platforms Group and Operations Group. The Applications and Content Group is divided into Desktop Applications Division, Consumer Division, On-line Systems Division, Research Division and Centralized Usability Lab. They are mostly in charge of developing new products and software. The Platforms group is made out of Personal Operating Systems Division, Business Systems Division, Developer and Database Division and Advanced Consumer Systems Division. The Platforms group is responsible of updating and improving their current products out in the market and coming up with the newer versions of the existing software. The third operating group, Sales and Support Group is mainly consists of World Wide Sales and Product Support Service Divisions. Lastly, the Operations Group is separated into Finance, Operations, Information Systems and Human Resources Divisions to run the company’s main operations. There are about 50,600 employees currently employed in Microsoft and about 25,200 of them are stationed in the state of Washington. The Microsoft also has the subsidiary offices in 78 countries around the world and planned on expanding in the future. The Microsoft is not only considered as an American business but also turning into a global business.
