Last month I attended the Greek Festival. It was a very “informal intercultural experience” and I had a great time. It was a Friday afternoon. The event was held at the Greek orthodox Church and it‘s surrounding parking lot. I read about this event in the Daily Lobo and thought it would be a great idea to attend. There were many things to look at and purchase as well. From artwork to food and ouzo to drink, it was a new experience.
I will start with telling you about the food that I experienced. I had the pork dinner and my classmate Stephanie had the lamb dinner. They were eight each with I thought was a bit expensive for the portion size. The meat came on a stick like a kabob. Then it was laid on top of a bed of rice with a little Greek salad and a slice of pita bread. It was not too bad but I have had better food at Petra’s (It is go

In addition, I found it very interesting that these women were not the ones that had prepared the food because Yanni’s was catering the event. Which I must say took away authenticity from the whole event.
Over all I had a great time. The most inserting thing that I learned was that much like my culture the women are tending to the food while the men chat and eat. However, I was also very disappointed with something’s. Number one the food was from Yanni’s. And number two they had a system where in order to buy any thing you had to have ticket. It was very structures and not like a festival but it was fun to eat the food and see the people.
After the food the people and the music there was the artwork and other things that were for sale. The artwork mostly consis
