Smoking

In the United States 400,000 people die annually and around the world four million people die annually. Now if you were curious to which they die from it is something that you witness or possibly do everyday, and that is smoking cigarettes. It makes you wonder why that there are 46.5 million smokers in the United States, and 1.2 billion in the world. This problem is one of the major killers of our society today, and if current patterns of smoking persist, over 5 million people currently younger than 18 years old will die prematurely to a tobacco related disease (http://www.worldbank.org/html/extdr/hnp/hddflash/hcnote/hrn001.html). Not only has cigarettes led to a great portion of deaths but more people have died from cigarette deaths than narcotics, World War 1 and 2, and the Vietnam War combined (Bailey 1). Throughout the rest of this paper I am planning on informing my smoking audience of all the negative effects of smoking, how media has its effect on smoking, and smoking statistics that will make you sick. This over-practiced addiction has too many flaws for you to notice, and I am hoping that my stand I am taking on smoking will help convince you to either quit smoking or help someone you know to quit smoking.
             Smoking: Your Ingredient for Death.
The ways in which tobacco smoke affects the human body has been under research and study for many years. Now we all know the catastrophic effects of smoking. All you need to do is read the side of the pack and you"ll see that smoking causes lung cancer, emphysema, heart cancers, oral cancers, and as well as other diseases. The pack also tells you that by quitting now it will greatly reduce risks to your health. If that isn't concrete enough evidence for you to quit, how about the 4,000 chemicals, and that includes 200 known poisons. One of the main reasons smoking continues is because of a very addictive drug in it called nicotine.
