In the past several decades’ human beings have seen first hand how capitalism has undermined substantive democracy. The reason for this is because capitalism is inconsistent with the democratization of the economic and social spheres. In other words in a democracy the people rule therefore the notion is one man one vote, as apposed to capitalism which is one dollar one vote. In other words, in a democracy citizens work together to achieve common goals by lessening social inequalities. The opposite occurs in a capitalist market economy, where people compete and try to gain advantage over each other. In other words the capitalist system resembles Charles Darwin’s theory of the Survival of the fittest, which states that those with the most dominant traits sur


As time moves forward, human beings will come to accept the fact that capitalism is unstable, prone to recurrent crises, and is unsustainable socially, and economically. In fact although capitalism and its trade market needs democracy to survive, it unfortunately does not know how to create or sustain it, and frequently produces circumstances that may undermine it. As a result capitalism will continue to weaken democracy unless something is done to change this. Moreover, I believe that the solution to this problem can be achieved by replacing the global capitalist economy with a properly regulated and locally rooted market economy that would invest in the regeneration of living capital, increase net beneficial economic output, distribute that output justly and equitably to meet the basic needs of everyone, strengthens the institutions of democracy and the market, and returns money to its proper role as the servant of productive activity. I believe that this is the only way to prevent clashes between democracy and capitalism.
