Who Jesus Was to me
The argument about who Jesus was has been debated and raged for centuries. For Christians, the accuracy of the Gospels in the Bible are absolutely critical. Many Christians say that eyewitnesses wrote the Gospels when in fact they were actually written at least a few decades after Jesus’ death. How accurate can something be written from memory twenty to thirty years afterwards? How reliable is memory? Think about the demonstration teachers give on how twisted words get over just a short time. When your teacher whispers in one of your classmates’ ear and then on the other side of the classroom the original thing said is totally changed and twisted. I’ve also read that Jesus’ words were passed down by oral tradition and weren’t actually recorded until someone felt like writing them down. It is hardly likely that people in Jesus’ day accurately recorded what he said word for word, decades after he said it. I totally believe that Jesus existed I just question the Bibles overall accuracy, Archeologists have proven that Jesus existed. I also believe that one can learn a lot from the teachings of Jesus and apply it to everyday life. His stories teach a lot about morality and loving your neighbor. But I feel that Jesus’ cl
“My father who has given them to me, is greater than all and no one is able to snatch them out of my father’s hands. I and my father are one.” (John 10:29-30) This also shows that Jesus was claiming to be divine. I don’t believe that Jesus was God in fact, I think it is crazy that he states he is “God’s incarnate”. It doesn’t make sense to me and has no effect on my life. In my opinion, faith has been much more convincing than true evidence over time. By this I mean that people ignore evidence against Jesus being the Son of God. Their faith is strong and therefore they are in a way being very close-minded. “The power of faith has so forcefully driven the minds of most believers, and even apologetic scholars, that the question of reliable evidence gets obscured by tradition, religious subterfuge, and outrageous claims (Walker, nobeliefs.com).” As to whether he existed or not, that’s a different story. Again, yes he did exist no he wasn’t the Son of God. For my conclusion in a nutshell, I can’t believe that God had to kill Himself to appease Himself so that He would not have to kill us all. This really doesn’t make sense in my mind at all. So with that I can’t believe in Jesus yet nor believe in Christianity. Now God loves us more than we can ever comprehend. But if we don’t return His affections, He will make us regret it for eternity. How is that amazing grace? This paper was very interesting to write and has made me think about who I think Jesus really was. I apologize if I have offended anyone by this paper. I hope I nailed what you were looking for on this paper. Jesus was not resurrected. It just didn’t happen in my opinion. They say that his disciples died a violent death for this belief. I’m sure they did die because of it, if Jesus really did exist. And they crucified Jesus because he claimed to be God and all, then they most likely killed his disciples in fear that they may rise up and claim the be the other Sons of God or something. Who did I think Jesus was? Well if he really existed then I think he was a highly intelligent orator. He knew how to talk to people and he knew how to persuade. He
