In 1999, one of the most memorable movies of all time was released to the masses. The Matrix was a science fiction look into what our world could become, or already is. In a memorable scene, Morpheous, played by Lawrence Fishbourne, explained that no one can be told what the Matrix truly is. In 2003, no one needs to be told, because everyone fully knows what the Matrix is. With the second installment of the Matrix trilogy, cleverly named “Reloaded”, fans are beginning to question reality as we know it. Magazines created polls asking whether readers think we are really living in the Matrix. People say yes, apparently unable to realize that it is only a movie. This idea of toying with people’s sense of reality is pure genius in my mind. That is the power of the original film. The Matrix is an inspiring movie that defines a generation. The original Matrix film offered elements of mystery, science fiction, and even comedy. It is of course an action based film, “wire fighting” techniques were perfected in this these movies.
