Gladiator

My name is Maximus; I am a general in the Great Roman Army. I have not seen my family in 264 days. My family consists of my wife and my wife and my son is nearly eight. I am a great warrior and I have the respect of my men.
We win the war and Caesar has asked me to be Emperor when he dies. I don't know if I want to accept this great honor. I was in the middle of a debate with myself when a guard came in ask that I report to Caesars quarters. When I arrived I saw the great Caesar, one of the most inspirational people in my life dead.
When I left the quarters Commidus (Caesars son) was waiting on me and he asked me if I am with him or against him. I didn't answer I him I just walked off. A couple of minute's later guards show up at my door to arrest me and have me executed. I escape execution by beating up the guards and stealing a horse.
I road my horse all the way back to my plantation, where I find my wife and son both burned and crucified. I immediately broke down and wept. Later buried them. I lay beside their gravesites without leaving for a couple of days now. I am beginning to feel weak and weary. I believe it may be from the infection caused by a cut on my left shoulder I got when I escaped my execution.
I awoke this morning in a daze I was being carried on a cart by some strange people and the maggots are cleaning wound and helping get rid of the infection. Juba a slave was the first person that I met once I was semi-conscious. When I passed out again I awoke as we met a slave trader by the name of Proximo.
Proximo bought me from the people who had picked me up from my family's grave. I begin gladiator training today, but I refused I fight. Bibius a big guy nearly killed me with a wooden sword.
Today I had my first fight as a gladiator; Juba and me were tied together and put in the ring with a bunch of professional fights. We functioned well as a team and as a result we lived.
