Cars? Nothing but Trouble

Imagine everything bad happening to you and your car all in the same week. Sounds horrible, right? Yeah, well, it happened to me in high school. It’s the week I now call “Hell Week.”

It all started last year in October on a Monday morning before school. I had made my usual trip to Donuts Plus for breakfast. After I finished eating, I had just enough time to get across town to community service, but when I tried to start my car, nothing happened.

Sometimes my car didn’t start immediately, but if I tapped on the cables that were connected to the battery, then it would. Of course, this time it didn’t work because I was in a hurry. I had to call my mom at work to come get me and take me home to get a different car, which made me over an hour late to community service.

The next day wasn’t too great either. Since I didn’t have a fourth period class, I had time to go home and change clothes before band practice. I knew I was low on gas, but I figured I had enough to make it home and then go back into town for band practice…. Wrong! I ran out of gas on my way back into town, and I wasn’t lucky enough for it to happen anywhere near a gas station. So I was stuck out in the boonie

I was speeding down a little country road out in the middle of nowhere, when, all of a sudden, a sharp curve just appeared like magic in front of me. I made it halfway around the curve when a little tree jumped out in front of my car too, and there was no avoiding that tree. I hit the tree, knocked it down, and ended up on top of it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the tree rose back up and pushed my car over on its roof. I had flipped my car over!

Wednesday wasn’t any better. I was stressed from earlier that week (plus failing an algebra test didn’t help), so I treated myself to Taco Bell. On my drive home, I must have been thinking about my algebra test and my car troubles (When I drive and think real hard, I tend to forget about my speed.)

Of course, after that I definitely had to tell my parents about the other tickets from a couple of days before. They were pretty ticked off about that too.

Suddenly, there were flashing blue and red lights behind me. When the officer came to my window and asked why I was in such a hurry, I told him I wasn’t. Then the officer laughed at me (which I didn’t think was very nice) and told me I was doing ninety-two in
