Career interview


            The two people that I interviewed both worked for high schools, which is the exact setting that I would like to work in. Both were more than happy to help me out with this project, because they understand the misconceptions people sometimes have about the their future career. It always helps to find something out from someone with more experience than you. The first person I interviewed was a ninth grade math teacher. It went as follows:.
             Q: What is your educational background?.
             A: I graduated from the University of Delaware, on the Dean's List.
             Q: What is your professional background?.
             A: I am a new teacher. This is only my second year, so the only experience I had .
             other than my first year as a teacher was teaching summer school.
             Q: What direction would you like your career to head in?.
             A: I would like to teach for my entire career. Some people aspire to move up the ranks, .
             but I believe that simply being a teacher is enough for me. Maybe someday I would .
             like to be the department head or be the one who chooses the curriculum for the .
             school.
             Q: What are your major likes and/or dislikes?.
             A: The things that I like the best are the kids (at least most of them) and getting to watch .
             them grow and learn. Being a part of that is phenomenal. It makes my job worth it. .
             The hardest thing that I have to deal with is when parents aren't cooperative. When .
             the parents are hard to get along with; you could only imagine what their kids are .
             like. In situations like those, no one wins. The child's education suffers and the .
             child's relationship with their parent suffers. It's difficult to deal with.
             Q: Do you have any advice for someone like myself who is thinking of becoming a.
             teacher?.
             A: Stay positive. Your first year of teaching is the worst, or at least that is what to do. .
