America
America's focus on consumption causes the loss of individuality.A great tragedy has struck this nation of ours giving us nothing but an artificial concept of life. This catastrophe has brought us a new age of citizens that consists only of mindless spending robots in search of the latest trends. Hundreds of thousands of our young Americans and even some of the past generation still fall into this bottomless pit of lost individualism everyday. America’s focus on the consumption of trends and products causes this loss of all individuality in people. From mass advertising to celebrity influence, consumption eats away at the minds of the general public, making us feel as if we need to buy to fit in with the populace that surrounds us. Everywhere you look you see commercial advertising. On billboards, television, clothing, malls, internet pop-ups, and even in public restrooms, the abundant amounts of advertisements surround us with a false perception of sex, popularity, and reality. Most people consume products due to the fear that advertisements and commercials show anymore; if you don’t wear American Eagle™ clothes, then you won’t have any friends, if you don’t drink Budweiser™, you will never be happy or have
Fortunately, one celebrity has stepped up to help create that luminary life for all of us. The famous actor/singer, Jennifer Lopez, also known as JLo™, has developed a clothing line just for all of us hard working middle class people. So how much does it cost to lose all of your individualism, I mean, to look like JLo™? Well, let’s pick out some cloths. JLo™ shirt: eighty dollars, JLo™ pants: seventy dollars, losing your individuality to look like someone else: WORTHLESS. Alright, back to the point, so far we have a total of a hundred and fifty dollars, but wait we need accessories before we ring out. How about a beret with a fuzzy ball on top, that’s another twenty dollars and of course we are going to have to smell like her too, so that’s going to be an additional fifty dollars. We are not done yet though, I heard it’s going to get a little nippy today, so let’s purchase a coat too, that’s going to be an extra one hundred dollars. Ok, let’s see how much we spent on our cool JLo™ outfit; grand total three hundred and twenty dollars. This is just only one outfit too. Whoa, wait a minute though; you wanted to look like JLo™, all the time. Well, in order to do that you will need an outfit for everyday of the week. So let’s figure out the overall price. Only adding in the coat, perfume, and hat one time, we actually are paying one thousand two hundred and twenty dollars for a weeks worth of clothes. And just as you thought you were done shopping, there is more. Fashion changes every season, for every year, so how much are you truly paying to look like JLo. Well, there are four seasons in a fashion year, so you are really paying an estimated five thousand dollars a year to look like JLo™. And we haven’t even bought shoes yet for our new outfits. So what is the point of paying someone five thousand dollars a year to look like them and losing all of your individuality? I can’t believe that Jennifer Lopez wants thousands of JLo™ clones running around her. Maybe it’s the money that she makes off you. It was said on VH1’s Driven, she pays an estimated fifteen thousand dollars for a haircut. So once again it comes down to someone taking yo
