The rivers' involvement played a major role in the devolopment of cities in Louisiana some negative and some positive. The state of Louisiana was once nothing but a huge body of water. Even though many people tend to believe the Mississippi river has been there forever, it is a known fact it didn't exist a million years ago. The river was tremendously increased when drainage was re-routed towards the Mississippi. Out of all the geological factors that shaped the site of the city, it is said that the river played the leading role. The reason why i agree on the fact that the river played the leading role, is because its erratic behavior determined the exact location and dimensions of the city.
