Media Essay

            This is a paper that will discuss the uses of mass media, and the different effects that it can have on people. It will show many different types and forms of mass media and the form of entertainment or information that they supply. You will see a wide variety of the types of mass media that are available to the public. The paper will also show and differentiate the differences between information forms of media and entertainment forms of media. Lastly this paper will show how a single topic in the media can have a deferent or similar effect on a small group of people.

             Purpose: Entertainment, watching the Buffalo Sabres hockey game because I am a fan of the team.
             Specific content: Viewing of the game for entertainment and to see the outcome.
             Nature of the content: Purely for entertainment value.

             Time: 1:00-4:20.
             Purpose: Entertainment watching the Buffalo Bills because they are my favorite team.
             Specific content: Viewing of the game for entertainment and to see the outcome.

             Purpose: Learning how the pornography industry is becoming more mainstream even more so than professional sports.
             Specific content: Showed how the pornography industry has become much more technologically advanced and more widely available to the general public.
             Nature of the content: Shows a controversial subject in the news.

             Media type: Newspaper.

             Purpose: Reading about the ever growing traffic in Buffalo.
             Specific content: Talked about how commuting in Buffalo is an ever growing problem because traffic is becoming more congested.
