In the recent years of my life I have came notice that the technology, compared to 20 years ago, has found a way to make everything easier. Max Friscsh wrote, "Technology [gives us] the knack of so arranging the world the we don't have to experience it." Well, I couldn't agree more! There have been several occasions that constantly remind me how society has begun to depend on technology more and more.
As a matter a fact, just a couple of months ago, I noticed that instead of calculating by hand, like I was use to, I pulled my calculator out and was very contempt with it. Then, I started to think, "Why is it that I have been taught to calculate by hand, but I insist on using something that has just become available to me?" The answer was plain and simple. Technology has made me and the rest of society depend on it just as a baby cub depends on his mother. I know the thought might make some of us say, "No, not me!" Just face it! When was the last time you sat down and wrote, instead of typed, a ten page essay? Exactly! I bet you can't even remember.
I remember a time when having a computer wasn't really a common thing. Now not having a computer isn't really a common thing! Computers now enable you to grocery shop online! You don't even have to go out in public if you don't want to. If you have a computer you virtually have the world at your fingertips. Just think about it. The Internet, or "net" as some of us "conveniently" say, has all of the latest technology for business owners, common people, and who ever else needs organization.
Now that society is so used to things happing instantaneously we don't even have the patience to engage in the simple things that make life fun. Instead of going to the park to engage in a friendly game of basketball, we turn on the television to play some game that was created with the similarities of an actual football game. For some of us that is the only experience we have with sports period.
