I would like to describe a world war II monument memorial that I knows and which is important for me. This monument is located at about one miles from my village, faraway in the countryside. The only way to reach it, is to take a dead end road which bring you at the middle of corn fields. You can see it two or three miles before. It's always amazing for me to see this big monument at the middle of no where. This monument, is seventy yards tall and made of stone. It has an original shape, like a huge tripod and it is built on a granite ground base. On the first yards of this tripod, there are twenty boy's names engraved. These names correspond with French resistant fighter during the world war II. They belonged to the "Resistance", a group of civilians who gathered to fight against the German military force during the "French Occupation" in 1945. These boys lived in my village and built their headquarter in a little farm, situated exactly where the monument is today. They had been denounced by someone, and executed by German soldiers. All of them were under twenty years old. Sometimes, I think that my name could also have been engraved in this monument and that is the reason why this monument has always caught my attention. Usually, I"m feel uncomfortable in front of this kind of monument, but this one is different for me. Perhaps, it's because of this quiet and desert localization where nobody comes. This place is not sad or dark, the atmosphere is rather pleasant and it's good place for thinking about the past. This monument is important for me because it's a good and easy point of reference to remind me about History. I"m feel concerned, because I could have been with these boys, if I had been born earlier. .
