This musical was based on class differences and how a person can change class by the way they dress, act and speak. Eliza did this, but she was worthless afterwards. She had no skills except how to sell flowers on the street. This wasn't a respectable job for a lady of which she was now. Higgins song the first song “Why Can’t the English” in irritation with England’s lack of proper speech. This epidemic shows how highly classed Higgins places himself compared to the average person. The costumes in the play signify class more than anything else. Throughout the duration of the movie, Eliza continually upgrades in class as she finds herself wearing more and more elegant attire. Mr. Doolittle as well finds himself on the high end of the totem pole at the end of the movie. As for everyone else, there clothing does not change at all during the movie. Henry Higgins always wears a dull brown suit, while Col. Pickering always seems to be dressed up in a nice black tux. Freddy too is dressed in a high society fashion, despite his lack of high society money.

in which all three celebrate their success in getting Eliza to speak properly. Then Eliza expresses her own towering exaltation in her solo “I Could Have Danced All Night.” While not romantic, her sense of triumph is tied up with a new feeling for Higgins. In the flush of his first success, Higgins puts Eliza to a preliminary test. He will introduce her to his mother's snobbish guests at the Ascot Race Meeting the following week.

In conclusion, “My Fair Lady” is an excellent movie in comparison to the play “Pygmalion.” In some aspects, such as the costuming and the use of the music, “My Fair Lady” is more significant in delivering its message, as you can actually see and hear the practically contradicting distinction between classes. But the best detail of the story goes to the actual play “Pygmalion,” of which without, we would have neither!
