The dropping of atomic bombs on Hirosima then Nagasaki and the use of uranium bomb then plutonium bomb was a scientific experiment that USA wanted to do on Japans (www.doug-long.com). But, this wasn’t an experiment bacauese all USA and other nations were informed the effects of atomic bombs when it explodes. “The scientists working on the Manhattan Project were developing atom bombs using uranium and plutoium. The first three completed bombs were successfully tested at Alamogardo, New Mexico on 16th July” (www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWatom.htm). This cannot be mentioned as an experiment because before the first explosion Japanese had been offered beter terms of surrender than the Germans had signed. But they rejected this and after the first explosion there was no attempt by Japanese to surrender because the emperor and the government wanted to go on fighting, in part to save face. (Stephan, Model Essay) This also shows that if Japans had signed peace treaty, USA would not have use atomic bombs and the word experiment doesn’t related to this situation.

In the laws of war, it is obviously certain that attacking on millitary areas or on soldiers, is not considered as terrorism. But, if the civillians begin to die in war, this situation enters the terms of terrorism. Here is something missing about the Japans. Begining of the Second World War, Japan started to educate all hic citizens in millitary branches. “All civillians (and Japan’s population in 1945 stood at 100 million) had been trained to defend the homeland with their lives.” (Stephan, Model Essay). As everyone can see here that all the citizens of Japan can be named as soldier. Killing of soldier in a war in Hirosima cannot be called as terrorism because all the citizens had the capacity to defend their own lives and were working for their country.

To conclude, everyone agrees on the fact thatusing atomic or nuclear bombs in wars cannot be acceptable. But Japans does not have white pages from the history of second world war.
