Improbable Players
On February 13, 2003 during periods one and two a and c wing was called to the auditorium for an assembly on drug and alcohol abuse. It was a very different assembly, it was by the "Improbable Players" who taught us in the form of a play the effects of drug and alcohol abuse. Even the most normal looking people can be addicted to drugs and alcohol. When you get drunk or high you are putting yourself at a higher risk of making bad desicions that will hurt yourself, your friends, and your family. The drugs will impair you judgement and all parts of your brain will be off. You will have a poor sense of balance, bad temper, you can black out, and you will not remember anything. For alcoholics or drug addicts, it is very hard to say, "I'm never going to drink another beer or smoke another joint," and really mean it, because of the fact that marajuana and alcohol contain nicotine, a addictive stimulant drug. Many students think if I drink or I smoke weed, I will be cool and look older. But they are just ruining their lives. If they get to high school and are the star of a varsity team, if the coach finds out they smoke weed they will get thrown off the team. Sure, smoking will make you look older, because it ages you faster. But if I look and see someone smoking or drinking, I sure don't think they are cool. I just look at them and go "Eww!" Someone who is drunk should not get behind the wheel of a car because they are putting both their's and an innocent person(s)'s lives in danger. If you have had too much to drink then there is a chance you will blackout at the wheel, or not be fast enough to hit your breaks, or you might drive into oncoming traffic.
