Aztec Empire

The Aztecs roamed throughout the today, Central America, until they found their city at the Island of Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs began their journey in 1168, in search of home with instructions from their god of war Huitzilopochtli. He told them to travel until the saw and eagle perching on a snake on a cactus. This was where they were destined to build their city. This did not happen until the year of 1325. During the same period as the Inca Empire, the Aztec Empire controlled Mesoamerican from Mexico to the territories of Salvador and Honduras for nearly 100 years. The Aztecs achieved domination of the valley by forming triple alliance’s with the neighbors at Texcoco and Tlacopan. The empire consisted of native speaking people known as the nahuatl-speakers, who had migrated from the Pacific Northwest and inhabited the area, which would become the capital of Mexico, Tenochtitlan.
