Do we often think about AIDS and, is it something "out there" that happens to other people? How do the media influence our attitudes toward this disease? If a cure for AIDS were discovered tomorrow, would we approach to sexuality and relationships change, or has AIDS permanently affected our attitudes? To all these questions, we must think about. AIDS was discovered at the beginning of the 80's and since this time, millions of millions of people died. And the worse is that if we compare today's number of dead people with the 90's, we can learn that it is increasing. We will first discuss about how people consider the huge effects of this disease in order to, in a second time, interpret a solution for decreasing the number of dead and finally destroy this disease.
Today, most Europeans and Americans teenagers think that AIDS cannot reach them, because the people they frequent are "clean" and because only gay people carry it. But it is not true and because of this very stupid idea they have about AIDS, it is because of them that more and more people catch the virus. It is sad to face the fact that your 18 years old kid is going to die, because he slept with a girl he did not know without wearing a condom. In my point of view, I think that all these teenagers are so fare from the reality. There is another existentialist problem that the world is facing, it is the Africans countries. Today's situation in Africa is very bad. The operation against AIDS in Africa is not moving at all. People don't want to use condoms there, and it is very hard for them to understand the situation because they live in villages. These people make lots of babies because they need them in order to work. How can you explain to these people that they have to wear a plastic protection on their penis? They do not realize what AIDS really is.
In order to make the people really realize what this disease is, the media and the governments are the only solutions.
