Eastern Civilizations

The Eastern civilizations of long ago are much different than the cultures of today. Their way of thinking about women and men’s roles were somewhat warped in our eyes. Religion plays an enormous role in the moral standards in the eastern civilizations whereas nowadays religion does not contribute quite as much.

It was the blueprint for courtship and marriage, which was written in the 3rd Century. Girls were married commonly at around age 12, and when she reached puberty she moved in with her husband. Girls at the age of 12 were considered ready for childbearing. This would be considered pedophilia in our society. In the 6th Century Tantra was introduced. It broke Indian religious laws, which included drinking, smoking, and having
