A Bronx Tale
In the A Bronx Tale I found Conflict theory and Marxist theory to be the main 2 theories represented. These two theories intertwined into different dynamics all around Calogero’s upbringing. Calogero had 3 main influences on his upbringing, his parents, his friends, and the mob. Each group pulled him in a different way. When he gets older his new girlfriend also pulls him into a new direction which changes his outlook in the end on all of his influences. In the movie the conflict theory was different because the people who held the power (the mobsters) were in the neighborhood, and not necessarily a higher class. The explanation for the way the system worked was based on fear. Even Lorenzo Anello knew that his kid should not say anything when he witnessed a murder on his stoop. Calogero knew at that same time that the worst thing you could be in that neighborhood was a rat. There were unwritten rules that everyone in the neighborhood knew. Even if you weren’t involved with the mobsters at the social club, you did not go against them.
