Black death

Our world has been hit by two global pandemics. The “Black Death” in the 1300’s and the influenza outbreak of 1918. Both came fast, killed many people, spread fast and went away quickly. One of the children’s nursery rhymes we sing today originated from the Black Death. Its called “Ring around the Rosie”, people sang this when others died. The pocket full of posies meant that if the air they smelled was good they wouldn’t get the plaque. I believe that one or both of these sicknesses could come back today. It was spread by air just as the Black Death was. It came from a virus which couldn’t be seen by a microscope so there was no cure just as there is no cure today for the flu.

This also resulted in children’s rhyme. The little kids sang the song, “I had a bird, his name was enza, I opened up the window, and in flew enza.

The actual killer was pneumonia. People’s lungs filled with fluid and drown in their own fluids. People caught a virus and it went to their lungs

The government started to ban all public gatherings where people would be grouped together. They also made everyone wear masks to protect them from the flu. But the masks did nothing. “The masks were like trying to catch dust with chicken wire.”

This came without notice and left very fast also. But t
