Edna St. Vincent Millay was a poet and playwright. She was famous for writing controversial descriptions of female sexuality and feminism. Her struggle in the literary world did not go unnoticed. While many female authors were not acknowledged, Millay became very skilled at writing to appease to editors who would read and publish her works.

Millay was openly bisexual. Her sexual freedom allowed her to write from a totally different point of view. A view that’s was considered by many to be lewd, offensive and even immoral. Such prejudice allowed her to be an even greater writer.
