Utopia
Utopia is completely attainable. Utopia, derived from the Greek words meaning no place, was always thought to be a model to strive for. Unfortunately human pessimism has never allowed Utopia to become a tangible place. Strangely enough it is this human aspect that is the barrier to a perfect existence.Life can be seen as a composite of three governing forces. The physical aspects of life, the emotions one encounters, and the spiritual quality of living. Independently each feature can cause joy, or sorrow. In an average life, one must endure both. This is the central notion to complete contentment. If we can eliminate all that which causes pain and anguish, we will not want, nor be aware of grief. (Kennedy 728) Physical pain is the most apparent in life. The range and scope of physical pain is astounding, from a mere paper cut while doing taxes, to dealing with cancerous tumors and slowly dying. One pain that we must consistently endure is that of simple locomotion. Motion requires energy and the bodies energy currency is Adenine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) (Biology 393). ATP is a very trick substance to manufacture. It requires mass quantities of food and loads of activity within the body. That need for ATP burdens us all with hunger
Any person who feels that they would miss their individuality or their loved ones isn’t considering the bigger picture. By implementing this system you forego many freedoms and several rights, but in return are granted bliss. A motionless, painless mode of living that is devoid of any signs of anguish or toil. Eden was nothing more than a garden where there was no pain and food forever. Although this system won’t grant immortality it will take away sorrow. Imagine if one never had to feel hungry again. Then imagine if one never had to be sore, or feel any type of physical pain. A more perfect way of living for anyone. It’s crazy that we haven’t done anything like this before. Suspend the body in liquid, with a steady stream of intravenous nutrient rich liquids, immediately eliminating the stress of the corporeal pain. One complete factor in human misery wiped away with these modest lifestyle changes. Tackling the next obstacle is much more formidable than this physical characteristic. Emotional distress is as perplexing to understand as it is to eliminate. Defined as “the subjectively experienced as strong feeling and physiologically involving changes that prepare the body for immediate vigorous action” (Webster 140). In layman’s terms, that translates into “some trigger sets off an internal process that makes us feel something “emotional” and has an effect on our body”. Laughter can be seen as a manifestation of happiness. Although laughter itself can be seen as a physiologica
