Be Ye Men of Valor
“Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valor, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better to for us perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and out alter.” This is a quote from Winston Churchill’s “Be Ye Men of Valor.” Winston Churchill was a combination of soldier, writer, artist, and statesman. He was not so good as a mere party politician, but he stood out not only as a great man of action, but as a writer of it too. “Be Ye Men of Valor, is one of his most famous speeches that he has made. In it he addressed Great Britain about the breakthrough through the French lines and that the German infantry had advanced. Trying many tactics to remove Germany, the best way was to rush them out. “if the French retain that genius for recovery and counter-attack for which they have so long been famous; then a sudden transformation of the scene might spring into being.” Germany had taken over most of France, and left only a few desolate cities, untouched. This was a problem, and the hope of the people of France, was slowly wearing thin. It is however, very obvious that he is speaking not to just the soldiers but as well as all who listen. He knows that the ones who are not fighting are more than likely having to support the war in some way of their own also. He knows that these people are just as vital to the war as the sold
