Leadership: an option for popularity, wealth, wisdom or righ
A week ago, I was riding a cab when suddenly the cab driver asked me who I will be voting for this year’s election. I answered him telling him that I’m still looking forward to hear their platforms and to know more about them before making a decision. The driver just deliberately spoke and started convincing me that it’s just either Ping Lacson or Fernando Poe who is the right person for the position. The cab driver kept on telling me that even if a person wasn’t able to finish his/her studies they could still run a country because of the presence of the advisers. He also informed me that I should vote someone who is rich because he won’t have to get the money from our country because those people have lots of investments and doesn’t need more of it. Are we just this too constricted when choosing our leaders now a day? Whether it is a school or national election, choosing a leader is like choosing our own destiny. Many people choose a running official just because his wealthy, and knowing that he is rich, many people believed that he isn’t anymore capable of corrupting our nation’s money for his own sake. He might be able to uplift our country’s economic status because his businesses are all in. Others choose officials by their experience and their wisdom, while others because of popularity. But what is the utmost quality that we should see in choosing or electing an official. Just like what Dwight Eisenhower said, "The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible…” It is indeed the greatest
