The Courage of Tom

Tom Sawyer In Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer possesses a great deal of courage. This courage is displayed in many different ways though. A stereotypical courage may be fighting in a war or dying to protect a friend. Although, these types of courage are admirable, Tom possesses a different kind. Tom is the kind of boy that will do anything to have a good time and to keep his pride intact. One example of this courage is in the beginning of the novel when Tom makes a very decisive move at the new girl, Becky (Twain 49). He purposely gets in trouble in order to sit with her and begins his flirting. He gives her a peach and due to a couple of age-old tricks is able to set up a date at lunch
