Aristotle was a Greek philosopher born in Stagira, Greece in 384 BC.

Aristotle was a careful and thorough observer who was fascinated by the task of classifying animal species and arranging them into hierarchies. He believed animals should be classified in a “Chain of Being” which consisted of God, man, mammals, oviparous with perfect eggs (birds), oviparous with non-perfect eggs (fish), insects, plants, and non-living matter.
