The Concept of Lust

Lust is defined as a strong, self-indulgent sexual desire, and also as having a craving, appetite, or great desire for something. Lust has been around since the beginning of time. Some, including St. Augustine and certain feminists, even trace lust back to Adam and Eve, and The Original Sin being the first sign of lust in human nature. Lust is often thought to be solely sexual, but that is not the case. There are many different forms of lust. There is, of course, lust for sex and sexual desire, but there is also lust for everything from money and power, to food. So where does lust come from? In my opinion, lust starts out as a simple want. A want that progresses into an obsession, that evolves into lust. Some religious feel that lust is a property of imagination, some even go so far to say that lust is the misuse of liberty. Every human is in some way lustful. Whether it is for sex, or a candy bar. It is a part of life and we all do it.

Many, including myself see lust as a, simply put, good thing. Lust can be a way

for humans to express themselves. Sexuality is feared by many, but in reality is part of life, and lust is a way to show and convey sexuality. This is very healthy for the human spirit. Lust

think that kids should be thought that there is a difference between love and lust, and they

intercourse and sexual activity is more likely to be safer sex with condoms being used.
