             Purpose Statement: To convince an audience that college athletes deserve to be paid.
             Thesis Statement: College athletes should be paid for many reasons that I hope to point out as we go along in the world of college sports. .
             Introduction.
             Should college athletes get paid to play? Forget about the game-winning touchdown, forget about the cheerleader girlfriend, and forget about the pageantry. What about the hard earned money college athletes will never see and earned? In the world of college sports its win or go home, and to the winners go the spoils. Opponents to paying college athletes proclaim that a scholarship to a higher learning institution should be sufficient compensation, however I believe that college athletes should be paid for many reasons that I hope to point out as we go along in the world of college sports. .
             I. College athletes are holding down a full time job.
             A. They were just recently allowed to work for extra money, but even with this they do not have the time to work a job.
             B. They receive no insurance against injury or benefits as a worker does.
             C. Most athletes are too poor to be living off of their parents. .
             D. They are also limited to an income of $1500 a year, including grants.
             II. College athletes are bringing in huge amounts of revenue for the colleges.
             A. Money comes from television rights, ticket sales, Internet broadcasts, and product endorsements.
             B. The amount that the colleges are making is enormous.
             C. Coaching staffs and administrators are making all the money earned.
             III. The future of college athletes is very harsh.
             A. Athletes are sacrificing their time and bodies for a goal that very few reach by playing professionally.
             B. Graduation rates of college athletes are very low.
             C. High school and underclassmen are very eager to make the jump to the pros because of these reasons.
             Conclusion.
             In conclusion, it is very obvious to all those involved that the athletes sacrificing their time and bodies should be earning compensation for all of the revenue that they are generating into the college system.
