Many teachers are losing jobs, changing rules, or not following rules because of their own ideas of how to teach an activity. Children are losing out on education opportunities due to a weak law.

Male students tend to be the most effected by the Title IX ruling thirty years ago. While their female counter-parts are thriving in the classroom and the athletic field, males are in a downward spiral. Nationally, men currently represent only 44% of all college students, and the federal government predicts that by 2010 the percentage will have fallen to 41%, and that girls outnumber boys in almost every extracurricular activity. (Rhodes 13) If these numbers are correct and the numbers are fallen this bad, then why is Title IX still being enforcement in today’s school system? These male students are finishing school and are dropping out due to the fact they have to hang up their shoes a bit early.
