The perfect woman wears a size five and has curves. She also wears at least a c-cup in bras. Long hair and slender legs make you have the perfect shape. If you do not fit this description, then you are considered to be ugly or unattractive. Many people try to change their image to fit those of super models. They begin to lower their self esteem. Once you decide to change you place yourself only the rollercoaster ride of your life.
Women may be more at risk for eating disorders because of a need to have the "ideal" figure often shown in the media. The "thin is best" view can affect girls and young women in particular. Very few individuals want to be different from their peers. Most of them want to be exactly like their peers. They would do almost anything, including kill themselves to be like others. Since we live in a world today that criticizes your every move, eating disorders may be the least of our worries.
Everyone wants to be liked by someone. If that means changing your image, then of course they do just that. Cutting your hair is okay. Using contacts instead of glasses can be alright. Starving yourself, or making yourself sick doesn’t qualify as alright. This can’t be fully blamed on society, but society plays a big role in the issue of eating disorders. If someone doesn’t like you for the person you truly are, then you are better off without that person in your life.
