To Kill a Mocking bird

Our country, the good USA has evolved into a wonderful place where everyone has the freedom to do as please with their lives, but of course within the means of the law. Unfortunately it has not always been the case, because black people were slaves in the early development of our country. They were deprived of their freedom and treated poorly with no rights at all. Even after slavery was abolished people still were prejudice against black. Sorrowfully prejudice has caused many people pain and suffering and though slavery was outlawed people were still suffering. Even policymakers did not comply in accordance with the law. The policymakers still punish the innocent (blacks) and let the guilty (whites) go free. If an innocent black person was accused of a crime, that person was automatically guilty because of his/her color and not based on evidence. Prejudice was not only directed towards blacks, but also against those who were different and those who stood up for what they believed.

One good example of these injustices blacks suffer is a movie named “To kill a Mockingbird,” where prejudice is a prime cause of grief and agony for many not just blacks. In this movie a man called Mr. Robinson was discriminated against

Though, society has changed from what it was at the time this movie was made, discrimination still very strong today. It might not out in the open, but it does exits towards anyone regardless of background and color. I do hope that some day in the near future everyone will be able to see past those little differences that separate us and realize that character is an important attribute to a person. Racism is a way of people being ignorant, because it prevents them from growing morally, socially and spiritually. What a better way to leave that to see people for what they really are and not for what they have.

These sorts of people see no distinctions in others and feel that all people whether black, green or blue, tall, short, fat or skinny should be treated as they would like to be treated. This is the case of Atticus who defended someone not very much different than he was, but just had different skin color, but he was able to see pass that when he defended him in his case. Atticus had integrity that gave him the strength to endure the ridicule that arose from his decision to defend a black man. Atticus was threatened and mistreated; his children were also treated poorly by their peers, because their father had the courage to stand up for the oppressed. Residents in Atticus town could not understand why a white man would defend a black man, since
