Driving is an important part of any person’s life, but one should not drive unless they are aware of the consequences of doing so. As a member of the youth advisory board it is my duty to help make people aware of the proper precautions one must take while driving. Car accidents can happen from any number of things, but according to the study Factors Affecting involvement in Vehicle Crashes, when outside factors are under control the person behind the wheel is far more liable to cause an accident than the environment he is driving in.

The simplest way to avoid accidents is to just obey the law. Follow the speed limit and do not perform ridiculous acts with a car. Also a person should stay aware of the road while they are driving. A growing result of accidents is doing other things while driving. Whether it is talking on a cell phone, eating and drinking, or shaving, it does not need to be done in a car or at least a moving car. Motions are being made against these acts now as well. As long as you are a smart driver you should not worry about accidents, follow the law and be aware of your surroundings.
Though young drivers are the most dangerous on the road right now, that does not mean older drivers are safe. Accident rates increase between 35 and 74 then sharply increase, as people get any older.
