Technological advances, pros and cons, visa vie genetics

In today’s post-modern society, there are many strong guiding forces influencing every single aspect of a person’s socialization and development as an individual. The impact of globalization, for instance, is a latent product of our drive for efficiency and productivity, as an entire civilization. For example, a single chip can replace an entire assembly line of workers. It’s main goal to remove the need for human proletarian work, seemingly aiding the manufacturing process and easing the work needed to be done, as well as obviously saving money for a huge corporation, let’s assume. Although simultaneously a single chip becomes the cause for a loss of an entire work force. The metaphor associated with the story of Prometheus and the fire, can explain this type of situation. Before Prometheus, mankind lived without fire, because Zeus, the king of the gods, said that man would misuse its abilities. Prometheus, who saw man living and darkness and ignorance decided it was important to go behind Zeus’ back to introduce man to fire and all its innovative functions. After its introduction to humankind, man grew and development knowledge and reason and grew a mass civilization, meanwhile as well wars broke out and men used fire

Just as animals, man posesses innate abilities. What sets humans apart from the animal kingdom and places us, at rationally, the highest position in the food change, is our innate ability and drive to tamper with our surroundings in order to create a new equilibrium with our atmosphere. In the story of Prometheus, Prometheus saw, from a gods point of view, man as being empty without the luxury of fire and its ability to create an innovating drive for humans as a race. By offering fire, he then both gave the greatest gift a race could acquire, rationality or the ability to be so, but also cursed man with greed for knowledge. Every time a person steps out their front door, its civilization and that drive to improve that has driven mother nature out of our little domain, in order to replace it with more efficient and technological neo-nature or neo-atmosphere. Just as in Brave New World civilization goes to the extreme to manufacture babies and pre-determine their destinies in order to create global stability, one of the World’s mottoes. The Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning finds that altering the natural socialization process and most importantly the natural means of birth, to such an extent that people are void of the meaning of the word parent, as a “major instrument of social stability, due to being entirely driven for productivity, or efficiency.” This satire on human evolution, in the lack of a better term, of ourselves and mother nature is a subtle hint on, the author, Aldous Huxley’s part; that mankind is unaware of the harm that will easily be caused to our meaning of existance itself, as a race or entity, as we go about this path.

By improving our surroundings, as it is more conventionally seen, we are removing what makes us natural. Tuning everything around us to our needs has left us dependent on our
