Family and Culture Interview Analysis

Family and Culture Interview Analysis

Step 1. HYPOTHESIS- I believe that Asian families will slightly differ from Western families. I am assuming that Asian families are definitely stricter than the Western families, specifically because education is more important. I also feel that the Asian’s will be more religious than the Westerner’s. The Western’s however, I believe they will have more freedom and go out more on the weekends while the Asian’s stay home and work on schoolwork.

Step 2. A QUESTIONNAIRE- See questions and answers.

Step. 3 SAMPLE- For my survey, I interviewed 20 people. Out of those people, I had 5 Asian girls, 5 Asian boys, 5 Western girls, and 5 Western boys. The reason why I chose this method is because it seems to be very accurate.

Step 4. ANALYZING THE DATA- See graphs.

Step 5. DRAWING CONCLUSIONS- Going back to my hypothesis and overlooking my data I have collected, I realized that Asian families and Western families are quite similar. Before this project, I was led to believe from what I’ve seen, that Asian’s were strict and had no freedom. Although, I was right when I assumed that education plays a large role in their culture. I furthermore assumed that the Asian’s will be

Comparing Asian students and Western students I have found some obvious similarities and differences between the two. Looking at the data from the graphs, I can see that there is a difference on how the boys and girls get treated in the family. Ten out of ten Western students said that boys and girls were treated the same, but, only six Asian’s out of ten said they were treated the same. Another difference I have noticed is that more Western students said that they weren’t allowed going out than the Asian’s. Keeping my hypothesis in mind, I thought that Asian’s would have less freedom than Westerners. As you can see, my assumption was wrong. There is a close similarity when I asked both Asian’s and Westerner’s, “Do you find your parents very protective of you?” Six out of ten Western students replied yes and five out of ten Asian students said yes. This is a resemblance of the two “not so different” cultures. One big difference I wasn’t expected to find was when three Western students said that they weren’t allowed going out, while zero Asian’s said they weren’t allowed. This can be explained from the previous question, “Do you find your parents very protective of you?” Since more Western parents are more p
