Dark Abstraction
Georgia O’Keeffe is one of the most famous and influential artist there has been. Her works are very popular, beautiful, and unique. She is an American artist who is famous for her paintings of gigantic flowers, distinctive desert scenes, and some cityscapes. She looked to European modernism and abstraction to express inner consciousness rather than external experience. “Her paintings involve such economy of detail and such skillful distillation of her subject, that, however naturalistically precise, they somehow become works of abstraction.” (H.H. Arnason 381) Georgia O’Keeffe once stated that “Most people in the city rush around so they have no time to look at a flower. The colors consist of dark greens, reds, and grey. “The deep hues of the greens are thoughts of her childhood memories.” (www.csuchico.edu) The red on the right side are very bold, vibrant and beautiful. All the colors are bold and beautifully saturated. The green against the red complement each other and make each stand out more. This painting is basically divided into three sect
